Description: On 11/06/23 at approximately 1435 hours, Clifton T. Wixon was arrested by the Windham County Sheriff's Office after the vehicle he was operating was observed traveling 62 mph in the posted 25 mph speed zone on Dover Rd in Newfane Vt. Wixon was released from the scene on a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date. He was also issued a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.

Burglary Arrest - Westminster

Description: On November 14, 2023 at approximately 1200 hours, the Windham County Sheriff's Office was notified of a burglary that had occurred that morning on Back Westminster Road in Westminster, VT.

Deputies responded to the area, and after completing the initial investigation, proceeded to search the area for the suspect.

A deputy with the Windham County Sheriff's office located an individual walking on Back Westminster Road matching the known description of the suspect and identified him as Devin Pratt, age 35, of Springfield, VT. Probable cause was developed to charge Pratt with Burglary and he was subsequently taken into custody.

Further investigation showed that Pratt had burglarized an additional residence on Back Westminster Road. It was also discovered that Pratt was currently out on three sets of court ordered conditions of release that were all issued over the last two weeks.

Pratt was subsequently charged with two counts of burglary, one count of unlawful mischief, and three counts of violation of conditions of release.

Pratt was taken to the Windham County Sheriff's Office where he was processed and issued a criminal citation to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division on 11/15/2023 at 1230 hours. Pratt was ordered held on bail of $15,000 and remanded to the Southern State Correctional Facility.

Arrest for Negligent Operation and Excessive Speed in Westminster

Description: On 11/05/23 at approximately 1656 hours, Charles P. Putnam was arrested by the Windham County Sheriff's Office after the vehicle he was operating was observed to be traveling 101 mph in the posted 65 mph speed zone on I-91 in Westminster.

Charles was released from the scene on a citation to appear in the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date. He was also issued a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.

Negligent Operation Arrest- Brattleboro/Dummerston

1) Negligent Operation of a motor vehicle

Description:

On October 31st, 2023, Deputy observed a 2021 Hyundai Venue displaying Massachusetts registration 2TWC16 enter the work zone on VT Route 30 and fail to yield to traffic control devices. The Operator proceeded to operate with erratic behavior and continue south through the work zone. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle using emergency lights, however the operator failed to yield for law enforcement and continued into Brattleboro.

A BOL (Be on the Lookout) was issued for the vehicle and at approximately 16:00 hours the operator and vehicle were located on Canal Street in Brattleboro by officers with the Brattleboro Police Department. The operator was identified as Gabriel T. Smith. Deputies arrived shortly after and contacted Smith confirming his identity and that the vehicle was involved in the initial complaint.

Smith was taken into custody and and transported to the Windham County Sheriff’s Office for processing. After processing, Smith was released on a Criminal Citation into the Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date.

Description: On October 31st, 2023, the Windham County Sheriff's Office was notified of a sexual assault. Probable cause was developed to charge Norman R. Mallory, age 77, of Vernon, VT with Sexual Assault. Mallory was located at his residence and taken into custody by deputies on 11/3/23.

Mallory was ordered held without bail and further ordered to appear in the Superior Court of Vermont-Criminal Division-Windham Unit on 11/6/23 at 12:30 hours. Mallory was remanded to the Southern State Correctional Facility.

Investigation revealed that James R, Rowe, age 58 had committed the crime of Disorderly Conduct. James was issued a Vermont Criminal Citation to appear at the Windham Superior Court Criminal Division on a later date. Rowe was then released on scene.

Description:

On October 14th, 2023 at 14:31 hours A Deputy working for the Windham County Sheriff's Office patrol division was traveling north on Fairground road in the town of Brattleboro. The deputy was flagged down by a concerned motorist who wanted to make a complaint regarding erratic driving.

Further Investigation showed that Benoit Committed the following offenses, Impeding a Public Officer, Disorderly conduct, and Negligent Operation of a motor vehicle.

Benoit was then taken into custody and transported to the Windham County Sheriff's Office where she was processed and released on a Criminal Citation to appear at the Windham Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date.

The Windham County Sheriff's Office were assisted by the Brattleboro Police Department.

Violation of Conditions Arrest- Rockingham

Description:

On October 7th, 2023 at 20:50 hours Deputies with the Windham County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Bellows Falls Police Department responded to Route 5 in Rockingham by River Front Drive for a report of a single vehicle crash. While responding Deputies learned that the operator of the vehicle left the scene and returned to her residence.

Further Investigation revealed the operator identified as Rebecca A Crawford age 26 also had court ordered conditions of release that were violated. Deputies interviewed Crawford at her residence where she was subsequently arrested and transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department.

Crawford was processed and released on a Criminal Citation to appear at the Windham Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date. Crawford was also issued Vermont civil Violations for failing to drive on roadways laned for traffic, and defective equipment.

DUI Arrest-Westminster

Description: On October 29th, 2023, at approximately 0119 hours, a deputy with the Windham County Sheriff's Office observed a vehicle driving erratically on the I91 Access Rd. in the Town of Westminster. At this time, an off-duty police officer was also behind the vehicle and reported to the deputy that the vehicle was continuing to drive erratically, merging onto Interstate 91 northbound.

The deputy located the vehicle in question on Interstate 91 northbound and conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 30 north. The operator, Taylor Jennings, showed signs of impairment and was subsequently screened. Jennings was arrested for DUI and processed at the Bellows Falls Police Department. He was released on citation to a sober adult. Bellows Falls Police assisted at the scene.
